But the experiment in season four isn’t about whether love is blind anymore. While many dating shows focus on both men and women, I think I like this one a lot because it only really focuses on the women trying to find men. While there’s only one season of it, it’s a lot of fun to see which participants end up getting partners, and which are left still looking. This Australian reality show is all about couples – and the chance to begin again. In Back with the Ex, couples who had previously broken up want to give their relationships another try, and we see if that works out, or if it’s a waste of time.
In The Circle, a group of social-media-savvy contestants try to be crowned the “highest rated” player. Contestants bring high-energy personalities and their own game-winning strategy — choosing to either play as themselves or “catfish” as someone entirely hornet close account different . They’re sequestered in individual rooms and tasked with messaging their fellow contestants by way of a screen. The players periodically “rate” one another, and the highest-ranked pair gets to choose who to toss from the competition.
The charmingly low-key Japanese reality series follows six strangers who live together in a house as they hang out and sometimes date. Netflix’s upscale dating show Dating Around has a simple premise, but being a fly on the wall for a handful of blind dates is anything but simple. There’s awkwardness, intimacy, and, sometimes, even a guy who might possibly be the devil (if you watched, you know who we’re talking about). After bingeing the show’s just-released second season, staffers at The Ringer stopped cringing and started divulging their thoughts. Love Is Blind is a reality TV dating show that premiered on Netflix in February 2020.
From “Sexy Beasts” to “Too Hot to Handle,” there’s no shortage of romantic reality TV to binge. A unique “nice guy,” Ben’s been called “too good for this world.” Now it’s time to see if his matches agree — or if he’s destined for the friend zone. He’s got smooth moves, swift jokes and a soft spot for his mama. Now Justin is ready for real romance — and an awkward round of guess my age. Dating Around is Netflix’s first original dating show and gives viewers an insight into the New York dating scene.
But something I love about it is that it really does kick the drama up to a ten and is enjoyable to watch. There’s a Season 2 on the way, which is also going to feature a predominantly queer cast, so that’s super cool. Let’s be honest with ourselves – even though we all might be in loving, committed relationships, sometimes we just can’t deny that romantic reality shows are our guilty pleasure.
Watch along as Leonard the widower takes on a spontaneous dance lesson and recently divorced Gurki speaks her mind over cocktails. It’s an honest and intimate look at modern dating — and you’ll feel like you’ve pulled up a seat right at the table. If you love watching sparks fly between couples in Bachelor shows but get tired of all the drama, Terrace House could be the perfect fit for you.
A standout moment in season 2 comes when a lead dater named Brandon flirts with a man named Ronald. In tune with the show’s stunning visuals, multicolored New Orleans city street lights shimmer in the backdrop. When they kiss, the camera spins around them, creating truly magical reality fare. On one Season 2 date, pescatarian Heather is clearly turned off when her blind date shares that he enjoys hunting ducks.
So, in episode one, we meet a handsome blank of a man named Luke. He introduces himself to his date, a hesitant woman who works in the food industry. And then there’s a sequence where each of them will pore over the menu, and a sequence where they toast each other. All five dates play out at exactly the same time, in effect.
Since the end of the show, the two have never disclosed their relationship, and due to their inactivity on social media platforms, it is hard to tell whether they are still together. Luke and Victoria are featured in the first episode of the show. Luke is a gentleman with classy and appealing looks working in the real estate industry. He attracts many women but finally settles for Victoria, a blonde beauty from Massachusetts with a great sense of humor. There’s no lack of reality dating show options these days, especially on Netflix. But after you’ve binged all of Love is Blind, be sure to schedule a date with this wonderful, refreshing reality show.
Last year, Netflix released a new kind of dating show, in the time before shows like Love is Blind and Too Hot To Handle really took off in the grim era of 2020. Dating Around, in six half-hour segments, followed one person each episode as they went on five dates, where they can only choose one of the “contestants” to go on a second date. Although Dating Around is like the refined, classy aunt to Netflix’s other 2020 trashy dating shows Love Is Blind and Too Hot To Handle, it delivers the same cringeworthy moments that make reality dating shows so watchable. Full of passionate first kisses and and plenty of serious drama, Season Two does not disappoint. While the cast has yet to announce if any of their second dates led to a third or even fourth, here’s what the six members are up to on social media lately.
And now, there’s even a United States version of the show for people to watch. He was very nervous during his date with her and also during his dates with the other women over the course of this episode. His awkwardly loud laughter was cringe-worthy, to say the least, and she was not interested in him at all. These two had some flirtatious moments in front of the camera and they actually ended up sharing a kiss but her lip-smacking was aggravating to watch. When Gloria and Leonard went on a date in episode 4, she actually pulled out her phone a few times to text her daughter! This is one of the biggest rules in the book that people should not break when they are on a first date.
The men get to meet the single woman’s friends and family to see how well they can integrate into their life. The dating show that is on everyone’s screens come summer is Love Island. Revived in 2015, it sees ordinary but very attractive young singles enter a villa in Mallorca in an attempt to couple up and find love.
But I have another — better — addictive pick for reality TV aficionados to settle in with over Valentine’s Day. Pour a glass of wine and unwind with this subtle, yet enthralling gem called Dating Around. “Part of the goal is, we’re trying to provide something for everyone,” he explained. In fact, it quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched dating shows of the year, with a second season following a little over a year later, in June 2020. Netflix is fast becoming our go-to source for wild and wacky dating shows.
